I am using the recommended throws and the plane flies great. Low throws give smooth takeoffs and landings with large loops. High rates give snappy performance. Remember, the tail is airfoil shaped and therefore does not need as great a throw for it to have an effect. I suggest you start with the recommended throws and adjust from there for your flying style.
