There is away to eliminate the end travel response.It takes a little back and forth between setting travel percentage and sub trim, and I guess it limits the option for a "throttle kill" position, but here it is in case someone finds it useful.If you leave travel at 100%, when you go into sub trim on my DX8, it requires a 162 point adjustment to get it to where the "expected" stick movement does what I want, but will not cause any servo response if extra pressure in the low throttle direction is applied. If youincrease the trottle travel response percentage towards idle, you will have to re-adjust the sub trim by decreasing it.
It works this way because thereare pre-defined upper and lower limits to pulse width range, roughly 900 µs to 2100 µs, which is enforced in the encoder software. When you adjust overall travel percentages, you are simply widening the numeric range that the transmitter will apply for a given amount of stick movement.
For example, let's say that sub trim is "neutral" (0), and you pick a wide travel range that eats up 950 µs to 2050 µs for the full range of stick movement.We will ignore what the trim lever does just for the example. When you adjust the sub trim, you effectively shift a "window" that slides over the 900 µs to 2100 µs range, and oncean edge of that sliding window reaches a limit at either extreme, that's where the response to stick movement in that direction will stop. Clearly this isn't the ideal solution, but it may work for someone. Probably not what an electric setup requires, but could work with a CDI equipped slimer, provided that a choke and/or CDI kill capability is available.
BTW, on both of my 9511's, the throttle stick does the same thing, but in that case I mixed it out. Maybe that can be done on the DX8 too, but I am not as familiar with the mix capability on the DX8.
