Default RE: Parkzone S.E.5a

Well I did manage to get a maiden flight in on my larger 1/6 scale SE5a last weekend. My report would be that once in the air and trimmed out, it flies very much the smaller electric one. It's pretty stable with a gentle power off stall and the power on ( but at idle) landing was pretty easy to manage with NO nose over. The first take-off on the other hand was almost a disaster as it hit a bump on the frozen grass and snow covered field which bumped it into the air just as I cut the power and rolled hard left. I added power and right aileron and it rolled hard right just a few feet off the ground. I went to full power (Saito 80 four-stroke) and it climbed away and I managed to get the wings level. It took a lot of right aileron trim and right rudder trim to get it to fly in a straight line, but as I mentioned, once it was trimmed the balance and elevator control was very nice. Most of our snow is gone but there is a storm on the way.

Whew!
