I have noted where a lot of war material has been removed. Border Belle, a Sherman which saw action at Fulda at the end of the war, was on a circle outside the main gate at Downs barracks...I was in Fulda a couple years ago and the Kaserne is now a government subsidised housing complex, the Gypsy village is gone and Border Bell is no longer there. I wonder what happened to it....would hate to see it cut up and I hope it went to a museum or someone to restore it. When I was in Arnem and Nymegen, I saw the 88 but was told that there were a couple of Tigers outside of town...I did not see them. History channel ran a segment a while ago where it showed a KT and a Sherman which had shot each other up pretty bad...maybe in Belgium. They seem to have more stuff sitting around. When I was there in 68 to get a steering gear sector box for my 57 Chevy, a salvage lot on the Luxembourg border was chock full of armor and an unbelievable amount of tracks. German about a half of a Pz IV, , US and tons of German halftrack parts. A German told me once, when I commented on the law against owning military vehicles, that "we lost 2 world wars...we just want to forget it" Lots of younger Germans are really PO'd at seeing every country around them with privately owned armored vehicles and they can't have any.
