Bob, he obviously ran it on all synthetic lube, that explains both the grooved cam and the dry. A few years ago I bought a used MDS 1.48 and one of the brags in the description was that it had never seen castor. It too was bone dry inside and the rear bearing cage was rusted tin and the ring was rusted to the cylinder. So, Mr Boca cured the bearings and $37.00 to horizon fixed the piston, ring and cylinder.
