Hi,
I need help/advice.
I wish to fly an RC plane quite a long distance, part of which is over water, 30 to 50 miles.
It is to replicate a flight made 100 years ago.

I am asking for advice on the cheapest and or most effective way to combine RC with some sort of auto guidance, GPS or whatever.
RC for take off ,switch over to auto than RC to land.
Any good ideas etc.
This is new to me.
I/we are experienced RC modelers but have never even looked at auto guidance before.

Chip in with anything and everything that may be appropriate
Would have limited payload capacity, but do have some 0.5Kg+ ??
