That looks great ! The linear movement of that screwdrive looks to be the a great solution for this, a nice straight push pull is whats needed for sure.
Maybe even mount your control rods solidly to the alum. cross bar in case one side gets in a bind ? just a thought. 4-40 wire rods instead of the nyrods might prevent any flexing under a load.
I tried a 4-40 nylon clevise once for a "carrier" ground down and sliced through the center to ride inside the rails.
