Default Scaling Pilots

I have a question or a dilemna. How do you scale a pilot? If you think about it , pilots ranged anywhere from 5'6" on up to 6'4". So technically a 12" pilot could be 1/6 scale for a 6' pilot or he could be aa 1/5th scale pilot at 5ft. besides eyeballing and wasting money buying pilot figurs , is there a methodology out there you guys use or do we just say....."close enough?" I hate haveing empty/ ghost pilots flyig my birds. I am trying to find a pilot figure for my TFGS P-47 at 1/6th scale . Just curious about the way you guys do things....
