I started with a Raptor 50, no sim, and my first few hovers were knee shaking. Had to think about every little input. I'd lift it off, hover for a few seconds then set it back down and breathe. lol.
Depending on your sim, you could also try putting in some expo and that might dull down the hovering a little for you.
