To use the bulb is not refilled and emtied each use, The Ca is left in the bulb and the bulb is always stored bulb down in a cup ready for each use. Its only refilled as neccessary and will last for months this way. As the stem eventually clogs from contamination it is just nipped off and the applicator will only need to be replaced when it is to short.
