I only ever used fuzzy mylar hinges once I found them.

I would draw a line with a wax crayon alomg the hinge line, both sides.

Dry fit, drill a 1/16th hole from the underside through the mylar with out penetrating the top. Add a drop of thin cyno. Follow up with a toothpick dipped in epoxy.

My club had a ruling on pinned hinges as a safety requirement. I am pretty sure the toothpick was just insurance.
