Default 3 wire Battery

I just purchased my first NiMH batteries (1459 & 1600 mAh) and needed to switch the connector to old Airtronics type. Airtronics calls for two wires - the batteries have 3 wires - red/black and white. Whats the white one for and what do I connect to it?

My batteries are not showing the high mAh numbers on my Accu cycle charger.

.
What type of connector does the NiMH battery have?
With a voltmeter, check each lead, presuming black as ground, test red-black and white-black, and just to cover the bases, red-white.

NiMHs can be destroyed during charging if they are overheated. Set your charge level to no more than 1C... for the 1600 mah battery, that would mean charge at 1.6A.. but it's also recommended to charge these cells at .1C for the first time, discharge and then re-charge.
Heat, whether charging or in use will damage/destroy NiMHs fast!
