RE: Converting to IR
There's also a system that seems to have been forgotten over here called the IBU. IT's a piggyback onto the RX-18 board just like the DBC series, but is really, really plug-and-play. The directions are really well done and clear too. Iran one in my HL KV at the last carshow event down in Danville and it did great. The only problem Ihad was the gun didn't recoil; turns out I'd painted it too much and gotten it stuck, which then burned out a transistor...Ireturned it to Ivano, who promptly repaired it. In the meantime the KV in question is getting a major facelift (cast turret anyone?) so it won't be at the extravaganza, but Ihope to roll it out soon. Anyhow, it's about $200 and is a great, easy unit to get a first-timer battling IR. It even works woth the HL radio! As for the SLU, this is also reported to be a superior piece of equipment, however it doens't act quite exactly like a Tamiya does; some clubs (like Danville) would likely have a problem with that. Do some research, read what you can, and come to a decission. My suggestion is do cheap and easy first, which means a DBC from Phil or YHR, or an IBUfrom Ivano Bretti. Hope that all helps!
