It also deals with a novice soloing by himself, high tension wires, the resulting crash, and possible financial responsibility for damage to the high tension wires. You may find it interesting. Oh, and as to your question about distance judgement, if your eyesight is OK then experience will improve your judgement for distance as well as "where and when to fly"!
