Like Warbirdrcer stated, if you block off the pulse pump you could possibly have a hydraulic lock if grease got on top of the piston of the pulse pump.
I think it would be better to vent the pulse pump to the atmosphere leaving about four inches of tube so dirt would not be sucked into the engine.
HELP! We need an expert on this one
Question, When using an electric pump should you block off the pulse pump, or vent it to the atmosphere.
