Larry,
Look at the top and side view of the plans.Then temporarily mountthe gear to the rails. Place the gear on the plans and approximate the position. The key postion is when the gear is retracted. Make sure the gear and tire/wheel are inside the wheel well when retracted.
Just remember that if you change the opening on the wheel well (width), you will have the change the opening (width)of the portion of the wheel well that extends into the wing.
I had to make so many design changes because of going from Robart toSierra the build is nota good looking as Inormally do.
Also be certain to check the fiberglass cowl against firewall.I found out to late that they did not match.Of course I found out after I had the nose of the fusalage built up.
The pics attached are with the original Robart gear, but will give you an idea of how I did it.
