I don't know Frank. to me it is just another new technology. Kind of like the transition from control line to radio control. There are risks that need dealing with and I don't think that, if we keep some form of LOS, that any federal agency will be gunning for us. Like I said in an earlier post, I have no plans to do FPV, but I don''t think we should stop responsible hobbyist from extracting safe enjoyment from it.
Okay, I have been directed to the survey which is in the May 2012 AMA today newsletter on the AMA website. You only get an e-mail notification/link if you are subscribed to it.

The following is a comment I provided in the survey:
The Academy of Model Aeronautics is about "Model" airplanes. While I find FPV technology interesting it is more about the technology on an aeronautic platform that has nothing to do with “modeling”. The aircraft using FPV are a means to an end instead of the end product of a project.
On the final survey question;
What do you think AMA should do, if anything, about the growing proliferation of FPV aircraft?
I believe the current AMA safety guidelines and the 540D & 550 .PDFs See & Avoid and FPV Ops guidance adequately covers AMA members FPV activities for continued insurance coverage. Anything beyond VLOS should not be covered. I would support an AMA FPV Special Interest Group (SIG) within the AMA with the caveat that the safety of other users of the NAS is always paramount.
