Default RE: ParkZone Spitfire Mk IX !!!

What a plane! This beautiful Mk IX Spitfire flies so efficiently even with oversize wheels hanging down in the breeze that it tends to make me feel like my flying fields are simply too small. Except for windy weather where it is possible to land into a nice head wind that slows the ship's ground speed down, most of the time I miss judge and land uncomfortably further away than I intended.

On my last sortie the adjustable "split flap system" modification was adjusted to 13 degrees flap deflection. With its APC 12X8 E prop, top speed was still as fast as I would ever need to fly, and combined with the drag of its new oversized wheels, the ship now seems a little easier to handle on landing. More flights will be needed to firm up what I think is happening. So far, none of the modifications have had a noticeable effect on flying performance or stability.

Well it looks like a lot of the fighter threads on this forum are going to function more like a "public diary" than a forum. That's okay, it's enjoyable to record information that I tend to forget and can come back and check on for reference, and of course there is always the possibility that someone else (I know of at least one) may be encouraged/helped along in his/her
modeling/scientific adventures. So, . . .

TALLY-HO!

If the "facebook URL" above does not work for you as it does not for me at 6:30 PM PST 5/19/2012 please go to my response to Bob Hunt on the first post on page 23 of the "Spitfire Brotherhood" forum (URL above). The identical Facebook URL as here works perfectly on my response to Bob. Hackers? Now (6/8/2012) the operation of the Facebook URL on the two posts is reversed.)

6:40 PM - Now the included Facebook URL here works. How much fun is this?
