As a long shot since I have not seen or flown one and they are not marketed in this country is the Seagull Boomerang which I beleve is made in Viet Nam and it is a genaric trainer for glow engines that many folks I have talked with have had success.

It is quite popular in asia and australia. As far as choosing a gas engine over glow because of climate, I am not sure that the gas engine is an advantage. The combustion temps of the gas engine I beleve may actually be higher than glow. Of course with glow You have to consider avaliability of fuel and that I have no idea.
