Default RE: JET LEGEND VIPER BUILD THREAD

My viper is coming together now ! There were only a few issues ! One being that one rib in each wing was partly sitting in fresh air ! Easy fix with hysol ,but worth checking yours ! It was the same rib on each wing under the flap servo cover ! The other think you may need is some longer 3mm threaded rod as some of them were on the short side for the ball links for my liking !
I have converted my airlines upto 3mm as it is supplied with 2 mm !
The flap servo is not in line with the horn by maybe half an inch ! Which is somewhat annoying ! However I have just added a 3 mm nut either side of the horn and servo arm which reduces the angle and I doubt the sideways stress will be a problem on a model this size ! although I may end up putting another horn in the flap so it's all at right angles!
I have used jr8911 (overkill ) and 3 mm metal ball links on the elevator as it just about touches the thrust tube ! I have also moved the elv and rudder servo lead hole forward as I found my thrust tube is pretty much stuck were it is and unless you have tiny hands it's nearly impossible to fix the servo wires to the sides of the fus ! They seem a tight fit so plumbed them in situ ! I should get about ten or more mins with my merlin 90. I am just on with the final install I am going to try and put a cover over the front instrument panel to protect the electronics from water and muck from the nose leg !
I am at a bit of a standstill as I had got my merlin fitted ! only to find that it looks like the combustion chamber is faulty [:@]
So it will be a while off test flying it now ! Before it went back I tested the JL Smoke system! Works a treat! ended up reducing the pump rate to the minimum and think with the one tank fitted I should get over 2 mins maybe more ! The smoke pipe goes down the inside of the thrust tube about 10" so I guess the oil will get pre-heated before it hits the exhaust! Certainly seems as good as other smoke pumps !
By the way thanks for the travel pics
