Agree with them as good starter cars, strongly disagree with upgrading them. Why put money into a cheap car, save it and buy a really nice car if you like the hobby. These ECXs, while good starter cars, are bottom of the pile. If you enjoy the hobby, you'll move up quickly, so don't waste money on any hopups that aren't absolutely essential.
