Constant chord wings have better stall and post-stall characteristics but poorer roll rates and have poor snap characteristics. Think of military warbirds in combat. They all have tapered wings. I would think it is more difficult to design a tapered wing with good stall and post-stall characteristics, but well designed tapered wing will have better roll and snap characteristics.
