See that aluminum cap? Unscrew and move it to where the needle was. Now thread the needle into the top hole. Congratulations! It's fixed, and you can access the needle without removing the body. I have a feeling something stripped, the aluminum cap threads in deeper, so it should be able to grab what's left of the threads.
