Magnums are a crap shoot. You get good ones, and you get bad ones.

Indeed as are all the bargain engines and consistancy/quality control is what is always lacking. That lack of QC may argualbly be also the easiest area for the actual manufacturer (not the importer) to cut corners.
So when I buy new I spend my money on quality engines and when the cheapies appear from somewhere in my stashes that someone else took the risk on, well I use'em up if they work
