My F-100 has been painted in silver. While not as stunning as Flite Metal, it'll make for a less delicate Sunday flyer. I hope it flies as well as everyone says. Maiden should be in a few weeks.
Actually, while doing some research on the one I built, I ran across a guy who worked on them in the AF when they were silver (not camo). He told me that the operational ones were actually painted with an aluminum paint and were more uniform-color and not as shiny as most models you see. The one below looks painted like that.
Although not as flashy, your painted one is probably more scale - unless its a model of Cutshall's meticulously restored one...
