John,

Its more about space and what engineering can be sensibly made that functions well for the job in hand, the 'floating' disc method we use seems to tick many boxes, yes there will be cases where it is not ideal but its hard to satisfy all.

As long as we have a sensible hub area/space we are likely to be able to make an Electro-brake fit.

Interestingly its not a lateral force the Electro-brake applies, its actually a force similar to that of a drum brake in that its applying forces in the opposite direction to the rotation if the wheel in the same axis.
