Default RE: Phoenix Edge 540 1.20

Had my first splat with the E540 and it was all my fault. I had been tuning my buddy's E540 and got it dialed in. Next trip out to the field, I took mine and mistakenly set the high speed needle with the setting I used on his plane. Result was a flameout due to fuel starvation and a dead stick landing that I misjudged. Learned that the plane actually glides nicely and is well mannered all the way to the crash site. I spent too much time on downwind and lost too much altitude then tried to squeeze it onto the pavement. She stalled about 3 feet off the deck and pancaked in. The impact pulled the gear plate out due to the split gear legs, otherwise no damage. I glued it all back together and replaced the factory gear with a Graphtech Lanier Edge 540 1.20 CF one piece assembly. It's a perfect fit, exactly to the specs of the original gear. Went flying today and it all held together. Need to shift CG slightly forward since lighter gear resulted in a change, but even with the tailweight bias, it still flies great.
