Get the Hobbyzone Champ.

Super easy to fly and if you get into trouble you just let go of the controls and it will level out and land.

You can crash it a lot without damage.  JUST ONLY TRY AND FLY IT ON VERY CALM OR WINDLESS DAYS

If you end up not being able to fly this then this hobby aint for you!

If you can fly it then you can move on to a quality second plane, but still not the little 3D Yak you mentioned, that is still too big a step.
