I think as its a one off build your best bet is cover it outside with glass,yes heat may or may not be an issue cant help you there to be honest as ive never worked with abs.I supose it depends how thin it is.
I still think your best bet is buying a bigger hull to work with,you can pick up bargains if you search long enough.
