The scale size is a fraction. 1/8 is larger than 1/10.

Think of the pie chart from grade school. 1/2 means 1 of 2 pieces. 1/8 means 1 of 8 pieces and so on. The "1" refers to a life size vehicle. So, a 1/8 is about 1/8 the size of a life sized vehicle. Imagine a 1/36 micro car or a 1/4 large scale car. It should take 36 micro cars lined up to equal the length of a life size car while it only takes 4 giant scale cars to equal the same length.

All the scales are subjective as a 1/10 short course truck is considerably larger than a 1/10 buggy. Actually they're practically on the line of 1/8 size.
