Well put hrrcflyer.. I'm wondering the same thing.. from the pic its hard to see what configuration the tail-group is... as it doesn't look like a conventional tail really...
Smallish bends to make connections are just fine... and sometimes necessary and can help a linkage set-up run much smoother.. The bend that looks to be needed here is excessive.. and I wonder why..
Maybe a larger pic.. further out might help.. What's that cowling looking thing on the tail?.... Is that a tail-cone? It looks to be cracked too.. maybe some fiber tape on the inside would shore that up a bit.. just an observation.. Good luck.
