we run them because they are the most durable....in racing we crack or shatter all the other wheel styles it seems...so basically in racing the dish wheels are the best option.....i actually have video of a wheel crunching on a big landing
later in this video you can hear the wheel actually snap on the landing.....

can't argue that I've had spoke rims crack right between the spokes yet I've not cracked a dish yet
