I have a really bad habit of doing this. I have some nice planes to fly, but I always find myself trying to cobble together some "frankenstein", just to see if it will fly. I occasionally have some great successes, though. I recently shoehorned a Zenoah G20ei to the front of a H9 40 size stick. That one was loads of fun....till it nearly shook the airframe to pieces [:@]. Oh well, we all enjoy different aspects of this hobby. I guess that's what keeps it interesting, at least for me.
