Default setup for an engine to never quit?

I use 4 strokes engines , most of them upside down.
I have some quit , and lost some airplanes.
can anyone recommend a setup so engines never quit?

the tank should be higher?
lower in the fuse?
Run lean? rich?

I ddle is also a problem , is or too high or quits so when is high you come for landings way to fast and is hard to slow down, you kind of have to push them into the ground and that stresses the retracts.

any help is welcomed
