Yes , there is a taper that is hogged out of the thick fwd sheet. The fuse sides have the stringers up to about the fwd cabane strut then meet and fair into the solid sheet that will be sanded to taper to the plywood firewall. I'd wait for the cowl to be more difinitive.
The fiberglass cowls of my 1/4 and 1/3 scale Fleets fit snuggly over the plywood but are held on with screws into maple blocks epoxied to the firewall.
