Hey,
I have Jason's Hawk. He did a great job building it, and it flys incredibly well. I looked at the main doors, and attached is a picture of it connected to the tank. Based on my experience with it so far, I think that is probably the optimal connection point.

I too have Large Hawk and agree that this is best location for these cylinders. Don't sweat it. If you have to remove tanks trust me the removal of cylinders is the easy part.
