mmm that is exactly how an ARF of this nature should be treated, like a nice canvas.

Those surfaces should be able to be removed with a little effort. Probably only hot glue anyway. Perhaps dribble a little acetone into the joint to see if that will soften it enough to then be able to pull it out.
