No residue as far as I remember but you can come back with acetone on a rag or q-tip.

You mean glassing as in if the hot melt is on a fiberglass surface and you remove it right?
As I understood it the question was what will help dissolve hot melt glue to remove the hinges in wood. On a fiberglass surface you can use acetone on a rag to clean it off with no side effect. I have wiped down an entire compsite ARF jet with acetone to repaint it and lighten it.
