Ditto on JeffinTD's recommendation...

I'd check the AMA website and see where the nearest club is located. They may even list some contact info of folks of the club. If you don't have much luck there then try the local hobby shop in the area. They may know/have info about the local RC club. Also check into some RC simulators for your PC... A Google search will yield a few free ones from the Net.

You will want to take these first steps so as to make sure your experience from the start is a positive one.
