Hinge Gap Fix
I have Vector Flight 60 Size 300S ARF that I recently put together. I was worried about the 1/16" hinge gap that I had between the wing's trailer edge and the aileron. The aileron hinge centerline it at the very top of the wing. A lot of planes have the hinge centerline at the middle of the aileron. Anyways, I resolved the hinge gap worry by applying"clear" hinge tape "only" to the top side of the wing and aileron. I didn't apply the tape to the underside due to the difficulty of getting tape evenly in there.
Because I didn't apply tape to the underside, it was sticking as the aileron deflected up and down. Therefore, a good trick I thought up was to dab some baking soda powder with a small brush onto the explosed adhesive side of the tape and then blow out the residual powder will compressed air. This procedure completely removed the exposed sticky underside of the tape allowing the aileron to deflect without sticking.
The white baking soda matches the color of the wing perfeclty and now no sticking as the aileron deflects.
I attach the picture for more detail. I hope this helps everyone!
