I have an aftermarket on-board temp gauge and it reads a max of 220 to 230 on my TT36. The thermocouple is located at the junction of the head and cylinder and is 90 degrees from the exhaust port (per instructions). So in my case the TC is on the bottom.

I tried going rich to bring the temp down (was told 210 is better) but it just does not run well like that. So I leaned it back and it is happy now. I agree that the 30's can stand to run a bit hotter than 210.

Also I do alot of hovering which seems to generate the most heat.
