Default Transmitters 102

So I understand the basics of transmitters and receivers(am/fm vs 2.4 ghz, channel mixing, EPAs vs steering direction, etc.).

However, I'd like a little help as I purchase my first "non-RTR" radio set. What I don't completely grasp is model memory. I know what it does (stores the setting for a given vehicle/receiver), but my quesiton is about how it is employed.

My questions:
1. How do I take advantage of model memory so thatI have a singletx that I can use on multple cars?
2. Do I need to purchase the same rxpartfor each radio?
3. Or, can I purchasea compatiblerx for the tx - compatible meaning any rx of the same tx brand?
4. Or do you guys simply install the rx for each additional vehicle you want to use the radio on?

Example:
Let's say I purchase the Spectrum DX3C for my D8T. It comes with the sr300 rx. Can I use the radio on myLosi 810 (which also has a sr300 rx)? If so, do Ijust bindthe two?Assuming this is true, when I build my Mugen MBX6,doneed to get an sr300 rx, or will anySpectrum receiverwork?

Finally, what are your thoughts on telemetry? Is it worth it...is it accurate....is there a large footprint with the additional wiring?

Thanks!
