I really like sripes on the bottom. What I do is plan it so that the stripe widths line up with the ribs and then apply the covering one section at a time. I wrap the excess covering over and around the exposed rib. Then overlap the next panel by about 1/2 inch. You just have to make sure that the two colors are opaque enough to completely cover each oher. Doing it this way saves material, is lighter, and prevents any bubbles. I have attached pics showing the bottom of my Extra 300 and Nobler that were done this way.
