RE: Hot Hots Plans Build Thread
Have some more pictures to post that I failed to get on last night.
The 1st pic is cutting out a stack of 15 ribs with my band saw. I used to do it with a scroll but the band is faster. If you don't have power tools, don't worry, the very first Hots I built was done with axto knife, a razor saw and various grits of sand paper glued to a 1" X 2" X 12" pine board. Work was a little slower but the quality was just as good and really not that difficult. I cut all the parts slightly over size so that I can fit by sanding. I use a T-bar sander from Tower Hobbies to clean up ribs and other soft woods and small parts.
The 2nd pic is showing how I checked the ribs to make sure they were in alignment after I sanded them with the T-Bar.
The 3rd pic is two stacks of ribs to build two Hots wings.
Pic number 4 is two fire walls and two wing bolt down plates. Even though the plans call for AC grade ply on the firewall, I have found 1/4 " lite ply to be more than adequate. This little plane is heavy for it's size and weight should always be on your mind. Also note: every Hots I have built has been fairly tail heavy with the exception of one that I stick built a couple years ago.
Picture number 5 shows me doing a little pose here demonstrating some clean up of some of the internal fuse parts to get the correct size and knock off any rough edges aquired during cutting.
