Although I never had one, I always admired this airplane, since I am an avid P-51 fan.  After seeing this thread, I went back and re-read the original article.  Would be interesting to see what could be done with this design today, with much better "hardware" options than were available in 1972.

I have often wondered about enlarging the plane to .60 size.

A modern rendition would also not require trike gear to be "competitive".
