Default shock guards

Hey guys, Happy New Year!
Iwas just reading PHMAXIMUS' thread about his shocks, but got me to wondering about shock guards. he got the RPM shock guards that look like they'd keep sand and rocks from hitting the shaft.....but only on one side. I've been using Bad Horsie shock socks, but they don't seem to really keep the shafts clean. I've seen some cars have rubber boots covering the shaft, inside of the coil-over spring. THAT looks like it'd work the best. Does anyone have them on their car, and, how do they work afa keeping the shock shafts dirt-free? Has anyone ever made their own? And for those who do have the rubber boot shocks, how do they attach? Are the shock bodies designed with a special something to allow for boots?
