That would seem to be a functionality that could best be implemented right in the ECUs - as it has been on the JetCat engines. You can link two JetCat ECUs together via their GSU ports and they will monitor the other turbine through that connection and take action (such as going to idle or shutting down) if the other turbine shuts down...
