It is used to remove and insert electrical pins and sockets into/from electrical connectors. It goes over the pin or socket
to retract the locking devices so the pins/sockets can be removed from the electrical connector. The other end is used to
press the pin/socket in from the back side of the connector.
Very interesting, hear I always thought it was a cheap soldering tool as that is what I always used it as. Do not know where I picked up the one I have but probably in one of the electrical labs I have worked in. All the pin insertion/removal tools we used were all metallic but common sense says you are correct in your report..
