RE: Monokote....Never Again
Gary,
I'm surprised at your comments. Over the years I've come across more than a couple of guys who rather complete a new construction with a new/fresh rolls of covering. The adhesive on all covering does deteriorate over time. So maybe the guy experienced problems in the past with some older covering and now it's his thing to use fresh covering only. Like Sobo, I have rolls of monokote that are over 30 years old, most is still useable but some the adhesive has dried out and I would have to use something like Balsarite to make stick. As for the Miss Martha, I had that covering about two years before it was put to use, so we a talking about ten year (+) old covering. For that amount of time I felt I got good service/use from the ultracote. I didn't use that ounce of prevention (recover the wing), pushed it pass its useable limits and got burned. Just because I couldn't wait a couple of days to flight test the last version of MDS 48 engine.
