RE: RC Surfer
First I removed the original brass tube for the fin/rudder shaft. Next I installed a #33 brass tube as a replacement. Then I fabricated a cross drilled bearing from a #32 brass tube. The #32 slips perfectly into the #33 that is now perminently installed, strong and water tight. Now I have a replaceable, slip in bearing that retains grease in the cross drilled holes. Eight holes in all. Now, all I do is grease up the bearing and install the fin.
Bingo.....
If this works well, the next time we build a stuffing tube for the flex drive / prop, we can use this idea as well. Big advantage is extra grease retension where you need it most and when it wears, just reach in with a small hook, pull it out and replace!!!!
In summary: #32 bearing slips into the #33 tube installed in the board. From there you just grease and install the fin into the #32 bearing .... Add water/waves and rip.
